To drive a KodaCar, you must meet a few requirements. You need to be 21 years or older and hold a valid U.S. driver’s license (probationary and provisional licenses are not accepted). Additionally, you should have a clean driving record and a valid credit card for making reservations (debit cards are not accepted).
For a seamless experience, we kindly ask that you to make car bookings and modifications at least 4 hours before your desired pick-up time. This allows our dedicated staff to ensure your vehicle is prepared and ready for you.
To ensure fair usage and availability for all customers, there is a daily mileage limit of 150 miles. For example, on a 3-day trip, you can travel up to 450 miles without incurring any additional charges. However, if the total mileage exceeds the limit, an extra fee of $0.50 per mile will apply. To accurately track the mileage, we record the odometer reading before and after your trip. This policy helps us maintain the quality and affordability of our service.
Kodacars strives for transparency and minimal extra fees. While drivers under 25, adding a second driver, and canceling before the reservation start time incur no additional charges, a general insurance fee applies. Adherence to our Borrower Rules is crucial to avoid fees for smoking, unauthorized pets, vehicle damage, unauthorized drivers, excessive wear and tear, or returning with less fuel. We prioritize fairness and open communication for a positive car-sharing experience.
Kodacars ensures the safety of its vehicles through stringent criteria. To be listed on our platform, cars must be under 10 years old and have fewer than 125,000 miles (about 201168 km). We only accept vehicles with automatic transmissions, no open recalls, and no major cosmetic or significant interior/exterior damage. These measures guarantee that you can enjoy a safe and reliable car-sharing experience with Kodacars.
Adding a second driver to your Kodacars reservation is easy and free. Once your booking is confirmed, simply have the additional driver create a Kodacars account and upload their driver’s license. Then, contact our support team through chat or SMS, and we will add the person to your reservation. This allows both drivers to enjoy the convenience and flexibility of using the car during your rental period.
We cannot guarantee a vehicle will have all-wheel drive, but since we only offer cars that are less than 10 years old, many of our SUVs come equipped. If you’d like to borrow a car with four-wheel drive, just reserve a midsize or large SUV and then chat with Kodacars support with your preference. We will do our best to fulfil your request.

We understand travel schedules can vary. There’s a couple of hours of grace period for both early arrivals and late departures to accommodate any adjustments in your travel plans. Otherwise, the reservation is still honored but you have to pay the parking cost for the time your vehicle was parked. Please note that pre-paid non-cancellable reservations do not refund the fee paid.

For long term parking customers, Kodacars provides options for the routine maintenance service paid for by the car owner.
Late returns incur fees and penalties. Renters are incentivized to return the vehicle on time to avoid additional charges. In case a car is not returned on time but the car owner returns as planned, we provide alternate an vehicle in the interim. Owner’s car is swapped as soon as it is returned.
No, our app does not facilitate direct communication between owners and renters for coordination, questions, or any other inquiries.

Kodacars car rentals have a limitations of miles per day, generally set to 150 miles a day.
